Just a quick post today to share with you a new character background for D&D 5e, the Vagabond.
You grew up in the liminal spaces between cities and the countryside; alone, orphaned, and destitute. You had no one to watch over you so you looked after yourself. You slept in barn lofts and haystacks, under bushes and carts. You’ve stolen pies cooling on windowsills, secretly milked cows in the predawn hours, and pilfered vegetables from untended gardens. You’ve hunted and trapped small game, and cooked it over an open fire under the stars. But you’ve also made yourself useful, pitching in at harvest time, thatching roofs, chopping wood — any little job that would pay a copper or two or earn you a meal and a doss.
You begin your adventuring career with enough money to live poorly for a week. How did you come by that money? What allowed you to break free of the endless cycle of hand-to-mouth?

Equipment: Choose two from (one musical instrument, one gaming set, herbalism kit); common clothes, fishing tackle or snare kit, pouch with 20 sp.
Feature: Self Sufficient
You have an innate sense of direction. When above ground you always know which way is north. In addition, you can find food, water, and shelter for yourself and two others each day, provided the land offers berries, nuts, small game, fresh water, and so forth.
