Several weeks ago, our Sunday game group playtested Belle of the Ball, a card game by Daniel Solis. Daniel has posted this update on changes in the game that resulted from the playtest (Oh! The power!!!). I think his changes are looking good, and I hope to playtest a stronger version of the game in [...]
This past Saturday was made of AWESOME! Hosted at Tom and Maya Kiehl’s house out in Wynantskill, Spielbany was a ten-hour extravaganza of proto-game testing with some of the nicest, most funnest gaming people around. Not only were P.D. Magnus and Doug Hoover there, but I got to meet a bunch of new people and [...]
I had a first playtest of Igooorrr! with Heather last night. We had fun with it and made some significant rules changes to try in the next test. I’m looking forward to trying it with new people.
Seems like there was something else I wanted to say, but it has escaped me.

Some time ago, posted about a boardgame idea he had for a game where you compete to be the first to build a frankensteinian monster. I was fascinated by the idea, and have worked out a prototype. I need some testers. Anybody up for building a monster with me?
If you’d like to playtest [...]
I am so burned out on character generation. I have 14 characters stated out at three paces each and I can tell you, some of those backgrounds are pretty weak. But you know what? I doubt anyone but me cares.
Anyway, I am very tired, so I am going to bed while the record sheets print [...]
I’m working on getting some sample characters built to populate the SftS Genericon game, and for inclusion in the manual. To do so, I’m going back through my old records and updating original playtest characters, converting them to the current rules. While doing this, I hit a bit of a bump because all of these [...]
I just realized it’s been a while since I posted an update, so here goes.
I’m nearly done with the first draft of the Aliens Revisited section. I’m finishing up the Cholak entry right now, leaving only the Sheolin entry, which is half done. I still need to go back over each entry to see which [...]
So, I just got home from a very successful 3.5e D&D game at ’s place. What made it so successful was that my character died.
Odd, you say? Isn’t character death usually a bad thing?
Why, yes, it usually is, but we’ve been playtesting the Fell Sylvanus class that I think I’ve mentioned here before, [...]
I am excited and happy to be about embark on a new D&D adventure courtesy of . He’s running it 3.5e, so it’s something I’m mostly familiar with. I hope it’s as fun as ’s last D&D campaign. Not that I intend to compare and contrast the two. Each GM offers a new perspective on [...]
So, session four went well yesterday. We didn’t get much done, plot-wise, but there was much mirth, which, IMHO, is what it’s all about.
We’re still discovering artifacts in the manuscript referring to outdated rules. That always disrupts play. But, I think the marksmanship rules are working better, now. Fewer thrashes, but still reasonable hits. And [...]
