Well, the computer rebuild went fairly smoothly. There were a couple of minor issues involving moving the CPU cooler over to the new board and the old power supply not having long enough cables. I’m going offline for a little while. I’m rebuilding my computer. Since I got the thing, almost two years ago, it’s had an intermittent crash problem. That problem has become more frequent, to the point where I almost have to turn around and reboot right after booting in the morning. There’s something wrong somewhere on [...] After an hour or so on the phone with Microsoft getting them to issue me another product key so I could re-install, I’m back on the computer. I’m still getting my programs re-installed, which is why this post is actually not so timely. Well, Windows 7 just finished installing, and so far everything seems to be working well. Looks like the registry was imported correctly and my programs are still all installed. Now to double check… If I drop off the face of the earth for a few days it’s because I’ve temporarily taken leave of my systems senses. I’m about to install Windows 7. (Technically, upgrade to W7 from Vista, which is apparently not the same as a fresh install. ) |
